THE BUS- The original Mini-Van

#24
I like it ! Especially the 5-spokes. Did you make any mods to the engine ?
I was constantly changing something. Started with a stock 1600 DP motor. I was at Gene Bergs or Dean Lowry's almost weekly. Tried turbo charging...didn't work then. Gene told me I wasting my time. Ended up with the 1600 with a cam change, Dean Lowry ported and fly cut heads and a trick new Holly carb. Got to where I could have the engine out in less than 15 min. I blew it up a lot due to trial and error. I bought the Bus from a church for $500 and sold it a couple of years later for $850. I thought I had made the killing of the century! I think it was a 61.

Thanks for the info. It also looks like you may have flared the rear wheel openings too. What a cool ride.

This was back in the good old days. I worked at Profab for Pete Wilkins as what they called then 'a combo man" Jerry Magnuson rented part of the shop to do machine work in back. All of the rough castings came straight from the foundry and Jerry would do all the finish machining for Dean Lowry
