I remember them doing match races and touring the country............they worked hard and probably towed a lot of miles...........and not for a big bag of money in those days..........true racers!
Wonder how many race dates they had.

SWC kept the Swindler A in the Midwest in the mid '60's and back then I'm willing to bet Cookie was busy Wednesday and Friday nights, Saturdays and Sunday too most of the summer. The M/W was a hot bed of match racing and plenty of West coast racers stayed here for the $$$. By '67 SWC had a Mustang funny and naturally that car was always busy too.
Back in 1999 I turned 50 and since I hate being the center of attention instead if throwing me a party my wife sent me and a friend to Bakersfield for the Hot Rod Reunion. We're sitting watching Top Fuel qualifying and two black guys come up into the stands and sit next to us. As they walked up I thought to myself that has to be Tim Woods son. So I say to him, "You know, the way you walk I think you may be Tim Woods son." Well I surprised him with that, but I was right! I explained I had seen Tim at US30 Dragstrip more than once and it was just happenstance that his son sat by us. Leonard had attended Notre Dame in South Bend, IN and the car was based in Gary, IN at that time. He and a friend were at the CHRR because former SWC driver K.S Pittman was an honoree that year. Sadly, Leonard took his life in September of 2010.
Tim Woods was the racer, Leonard was a kid- probably just a teen helping out in it's heyday.  Their was a good reason Leonard's name was on the car- business! His dad owned a construction company. Lenny bought a Ford dealership in early 80's on Central & was very close to my office & home. I even bought a couple of work trucks from Chino Hills Ford after he moved to Chino Hills Parkway. The economy tanked & so did his biz. He borrowed from those he could but it wasn't going to turn around. When the dealer closed- he was suppose to be in there returning the cars back to Ford. Instead, he shot himself in his office. Pretty shitty thing to do to his wife, 2 kids & 2 grandkids IMO. Ending his life only passed the  mess on to his wife. Great generous guy- even sponsored my kids little league team but his ending was a shocker.
