I've always figured I would buy a house, and build a pole building on the property, sized according to the space I had. Just seemed like all I would be able to afford. Well recently a deal came along and I finally bought a place. With 2 garages already on it! None of the buildings are really old enough to actually fit in here, but the photo looks kind of old none the less, aside from the VW.

Everything is VERY overgrown and needs cleaned up in and around... but it has the feel of an old shop. Cinderblock walls, stick built roof, etc.
I'll post more modern photos once I get the place cleaned up some and start working there...
This is one of the photos that I found when it was nearly finished. The right side(25'x40') was a foundation for a house built a lot earlier, used as a shop with a flat roof. The left side(25'x50'-back wall is stepped) was added in '82 along with the whole peaked roof.

A shot looking from the house toward the garage. Unfortunately, this is all overgrown now with trees and whatnot.

Nice pic of the Borradori Garage in Cayucos!  Here's a couple of current pics... we like to
visit the Sea Shanty Inn in Cayucos for fish & chips (the BEST) and always snap a few pics
of the old garage.  Now days it's owned by Cayucos Cellars and sees more wine then cars!

Imagine telling some young person of today, right out of school, "This is where you are going to work for the next 40 years"! Most of them would run away, too afraid to get their hands dirty.

This little shop on Vancouver Island, turned out some interesting machinery over the years, such as the teardrop shaped car in the 2nd picture and the worlds largest log haulers.

The train is bringing King George V and Queen Elizabeth to Vancouver 1939. I had to include it, since I had never known until I discovered this photo, that there had ever been a "Finch Garage", which is my family name. Check out the $2.50 tune-up in the second picture.

It was my first time meeting the owner, and I'm reluctant to post pics from inside someone else's shop without their permission. The car is about to be blown apart for final paint, but has been driven for a few months already. It's Ford flathead powered, with a T-5  5-speed. The wood is an absolutely "masterpiece". Stay tuned for updates.  ;)

1932 Indy 500 entry for Tony Gulotta is on the right. Built on a race chassis the Studebaker 336 cu. in. 8 had a milled head for 7.7 compression, four Winfield carbs, an Ed Winfield reground cam and a Scintilla magneto. Four chassis and bodies were built by Herman Ringling of Indianapolis for the huge sum of $750 each! What does $750 buy for Indy today?

Nice pic of the Borradori Garage in Cayucos!  Here's a couple of current pics... we like to
visit the Sea Shanty Inn in Cayucos for fish & chips (the BEST) and always snap a few pics
of the old garage.  Now days it's owned by Cayucos Cellars and sees more wine then cars!

Here's a shot that shows John Holman holding forth in his glass walled, second story office. That's Ralph Moody and Eddie Pagan at the Lance machine down below. That's about as close as the two men usually got. Holman and Moody were not the best of friends.

The beautiful rail-frame midget on the right, known as the ‘Jewel Box’ was built by Kurtis for Charlie Allen and driven and later by owned Roy Sherman. The guy between the 2 frame-rail midgets being built is Kurtis’ Ted Halibrand later famous for his alloy wheels.

Rocky Pirrone's toy shop. His dad started a lucrative transmission shop in Pennsylvania and was a Gas Class racer back in the hay-day of the class. The car on the left is "Big Time Memories", looks like a Gasser but runs a big inch aluminum hemi on alcohol, I think it's just an exhibition car. The Competition Coupe runs a 392 based fuel hemi, the '33 Willys "Boss Hydro" coupe is a very competitive re-creation of one of his dad's cars and the Firebird is his alcohol Nostalgia Funny Car. I don't recognize the '33 Willys on the right, but that '41 roof has to be from when he built his Mazmanian tribute car.
Nice, likable guy with the money to indulge in whatever he wants.
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.

Romeo Palamides, the rights to his very early mag wheel undertaking were sold off and became the American Racing Wheels empire. He relocated to the Chicago area in the '60's and ran a chassis shop in the city doing funnies, pro stocks, jets, and even street rod stuff. He died a young man at 62, IIRC. A man of his word, RIP.
