Great vintage shot from the defunct Van Isle Dragway, San Cobble BC. Yes the shut down area was a steep uphill grade.

Great photo, by the talented Larry Pfister, from the NHRA Div. 6 points meet at Mission Raceway today. Shawn Cowie in the far lane and Kim Parker in the near lane. Mount Baker sure looks awesome lurking in the background! ::)

Its easy for those of us that have lived here for 50+ years to sometimes forget just how stunning the scenery is. My sister-in-law just flew in from Saigon on Friday night for her daughters graduation(she has been living with us and attending high-school for the last three years, just graduated on the honor roll with a scholarship to Dalhousie next year :) really good kid, has been an awesome example for my daughter, we will miss her next year) she is gob-smacked looking around here. The greenery, the mountains, the cool clean air and water, theres a reason why the property is so damned expensive here.
Wanted: Used +030 TRW L2249 or Speed Pro 7061P 12.5/1 289/302 ford pistons

That's typically what one is in Vancouver. But yes, I have heard San Francisco is right up there too. In a lot of ways, there are a lot of similarities between Greater Vancouver and San Fran.
My house here in Surrey is about 25 miles out of the city centre, and in an area that is traditionally thought of as grungy (just past the east border of Whalley) 8000 sq ft lot and a 1960s 1900 sq ft bi-level, we paid 395K in 2009 at the bottom of the crash, earlier this year, the house across the street sold about a week after it went on the market for 925K, the house next to it is now on the market at 945K. We are waiting for the houses along our street to hit around 1.1 mill, at that point, we can walk out with about a mill free and clear, go to our other place in Maple Ridge, and my wife can retire at fifty. I retired at 54, I did pretty well in 2007/08. If you play your cards right and see it coming, every crash spells opportunity. I just hang on and hope we can crest that 1.1 mark before the next one, we are almost there.
We did well speculation wise on the house, but took a hit on the business. We bought a hair salon in a mall that was supposed to get a casino (I had some insider info). A year after we bought, city planning approved it, the plans were drawn up, but then they got into a bitch-fest with the provincial gaming commission and the whole deal fell apart, the gaming commission pulled out of Surrey completely, and did a deal in the next town over. Our business is ok, mostly because my wife has a very good reputation, but if that hadn't fallen apart, the business would be 3-4 times as big as it is, and we would be multi-millionaires. Some days you eat the bear, and some days the bear eats you.
