I imagine Dodge Division wanted Big to run the wedge because that was what they were marketing at the time. Don did get back to running hemis, he put 392’s in his cars again before the 426 intro. Frustrated with the elephant motor at first he put more advance in the mag hoping to blow it up but the result was a quicker ET and more MPH. The larger combustion chamber needed more advance and that was the key to success.
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.

As far as I know, he only ran the wedge on gas in NHRA events, during the latter days of the fuel ban, and was running the Chrysler concurrently in non-NHRA events on fuel. IIRC, I think Art Malone drove the gas car a bit as well. Its been quite some time since I read "King of the Dragsters" but that's what I recall.
