I'm seeing a few with cowl steering.  It makes sense because of the conditions of the race.  I wonder if this is where Doane Spencer got the idea?

Last pic -,Notice that the wishbone and steering pivot are perpendicular and that they are in parallel.  That minimizes the bump steer for this setup.
