I get a bit nostalgic when I see a 41 Ford truck. When I was 15 I spent my hard earned $500 on a 41 Ford truck from a wrecking yard, that is what  started it all for me. I did not know what I was doing but I read all the books and magazines and made a lot of mistakes. I did all the body work, gas welded the torn fenders and brazed electrical conduit in the fenders to reinforce them, like I said I was just learning and improvising.  I redrilled the front hubs to match the junkyard  ford rearend so I could get matching wheels front and back.  It was my first wiring job using a wiring guide from Peterson publications that I still have somewhere.  The bucket seats were junkyard seats that were gold, which in retrospect was cool, but at 15 I thought all the cool cars in the magazines had black interiors so I spray dyed them black.  With help from a farm neighbor that played with dirt track cars, we dropped in a 289 and three speed because that is all I could afford. My dad actually gave me a really nice surprise and paid $100 to have the truck painted after I got it running.and the body work completed. Actually I think the painter painted it after hours at the Ford dealership to help this stupid little kid out,.   All I could remember was I thought that was like a custom paint job in the magazines for that kind of money.  My pops got the father of the year award!  I did the gold accents and gold leaf ford script  I routered in the wood tailgate since the tailgate outer skin was trashed.   My first flame job shown here was, well what it was, it looked like a 15 year old did it, which it was!  Double taping the outline to spray the gold after laying it out over and over took me several days, I used to have patience!  Sorry about the long winded post, but like I said, these trucks make me a bit nostalgic. I am going to build another one day and it will be the Cadillac metallic Brown color just like my first hot rod.
