Cars that you spend 15 minutes looking at
« on: October 20, 2017, 05:27:20 PM »
This is the counter-point to the "IS THERE A CAR THAT YOU WOULD WALK BY & NEVER TAKE A LOOK" thread. Lets see cars you have spent 10 or 15 minutes looking at at shows you have attended.

I'll start it off, saw this out the window of my hotel room at Deuce Days, and just about broke my neck running down two flights of stairs.
Didn't know squat about it, except SWEET JESUS, was it ever RIGHT.

All became clear after I talked to the care-taker, Mike Thompson, it was chopped at the Barris shop in 1953, and had an original Gaylord interior in it.

Saw this '57 at a Mission Fathers Day in the Park show in the mid-nineties.

It had been sitting in a guys garage since 1971. 283 and a Muncie.

I have looked over Lee Pratt's '40 a few times, and whenever I see it I still love it.

No explanation needed.

I got a bunch more to post here, spread out over the last thirty years worth of shows I have attended, but I'll keep my powder dry for a bit, lets see some others, post pics of the cars that stopped you dead in your tracks, lets see 'em!

I have spent quite a bit of time looking at Jim Jacob's panel and A tub, and I'd like to see his old pickup as well.

At an indoor show one time, I had an artist friend spend hours studying the paint job on our team's boat. The little details, like ghost stripes, fades from one color to another and incredible striping and lettering, kept him fascinated, much to the chagrin of his female companion.  ::) Some of the detail, like a 1/72" wide pinstripe, with the painters name written inside the lines were spectacular.

Man, that's going to be cool. The plan for the engine for my T-Bucket is Naples Orange block and heads, raw cast magnesium injector manifold with polished aluminum stacks, polished brass throttle linkage parts, polished Corvette valve covers with Naples Orange between the fins, Black Crackle pump, pump bracket, distributor, polished aluminum mounting brackets and other bits. Should pop.

We had that at Quail Lodge about 4-5 years ago.............What a pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Wrong venue with the champagne drinkin' crowd.  Tom Mix's Duesenberg was right next to it and we could figure out which one was going to collapse first!

2012, Tom the Tire Guy show, Cam Grants '34 Roadster, I spent a lot of time looking at this car. Different, and interesting. Cams cars tend to be "provocative". :D

Got the chance to go through one a few years ago at the Somernights Cruise car show. These vehicles are massive in person. If you ever get a chance sit in the drivers seat it's too cool!   Joe
