East London Timing Association: Friday drag party.  Prior to their annual street party these guys normally put on a garage crawl, but this year the dragstrip in St Thomas Ontario opened its gates and for a small charitable donation the guys all showed up to play.

I was hoping to go to one and post photos here, but the way things are shaping up, I don't think I am going to manage to make it to one this year. Maybe when I get home I will post some pics from some last year. :-[

I don't know if it was just a local thing, but we always called the '71-'74 chargers "anteaters". And we were mostly Mopar guys! ;D like the maroon Beaumont and yellow Le Mans.

Seriously George, no joke; is there any car culture in Vietnam? It has spread to many countries, how about there, are they doing cruise nights or anything?
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.

No car culture whatsoever. What's interesting is there's a growing underground custom bike scene, based mostly on small displacement bikes modified in what I would loosely describe as a "cafe racer" style. It's been kind of interesting for me to watch, as I have come back roughly once a year for the last ten years, and in that time, it has gone from a tiny handful of bikes with totally homebuilt parts, to the beginnings of small aftermarket companies popping up, and even a few specialist bike building shops.
It's kind of like if I had started making annual trips to So-Cal in the late 1930's, and right now it's say around 1945-6. I have really seen it right from the beginnings, and the parallels with the birth of hot ridding back home have been very noticeable.
One thing that I have noticed last trip and this trip, that I think is probably a threat to the grass-roots modified bike scene, the economy is really taking off here, and people have a lot more money, and guys can afford to import Ducatis and Japanese sport bikes now. That might kill it off, I don't know.
But the car scene here is all about Mercedes, Lexus (is the plural of Lexus Lexi?) and expensive SUV's, I don't think there will ever be a modified car scene here.

Thanks for sharing some cool pics, Dave!!  Having spent our last thirty years here in Chino, there is little in the way of a local cruise night.  There
are plenty of hamburger joints; our favorite is Super Chili Burgers.  It's run by a Greek family... Dad's about 75 and his two boys are in their early
40's; we're GOOD customers!  A few weeks back we noticed a flyer in the window for a car show complete with a DJ... finally, something to do not
too far from home for a change.  Our friends down the street "towed" their '67 Bug... we drove ours.  A good time was had by all!
