NOS Cobra Accelerometer, actually made for 1966. A relatively worthless part in terms of function, it measures 10th's of G's during acceleration. The thought was that you could make gear ratio changes, carb jet changes, cam changes, etc. then determine if the modifications yielded quicker acceleration. The kit sold for $38.95 in 1966.

1964 Shelby Cobra 289 Chassis Number  CSX 2433

This 1964 Cobra, CSX 2433, is a 289 model, produced from 1963 to 1965. 289 Cobras were upgraded with Ford’s more powerful small block V-8 engine, and later examples featured responsive rack and pinion steering. Built by AC in May 1964, CSX 2433 was completed by Shelby American in Vineyard Green with black interior and shipped to McAnary Ford in Gary, Indiana, in August 1964. By 1966, it had been purchased by Brooke Perkins, who modified the car to competition specs. During his ownership, CSX 2433 was raced at Lime Rock, Summit Point, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, and other venues. In 1967, the car won 1st in Class at the SCCA Nationals at Marlboro in Maryland. By 1969, CSX 2433 had been purchased by SCCA racer Daniel Schott of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He raced the car at Elkhart Lake, the Michigan International, Atlanta, St. Louis, Mid-Ohio, and Brainerd, to name a few. Around 1973, the Cobra was acquired by Steve Mondloch of Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Mr. Mondloch restored CSX 2433, returning it to street trim. He owned the car until 1990, when it was sold to Jack Ruscilli of Columbus, Ohio. A short while later, it was acquired by noted collector Bill Jacobs of Joliet, Illinois, and eventually made its way to the Blackhawk Collection in Danville, California. CSX 2433’s next owner, Bruce Canepa of Scotts Valley, California, is well known for his world-class restorations. Mr. Canepa purchased the car in 2011 and chose to return it to competition trim. His intent was to create a concours-winning show car and a highly competitive racer. CSX 2433 was completely disassembled and painstakingly restored, finished in a breathtaking deep blue. Its black interior is enhanced by a full complement of gauges, a single hoop roll bar, and Simpson racing belts. Its Traco-built 289 breathes through four Weber carburetors. Power transfers through a Ford T10 top loader transmission to a Dana 44 rear axle containing 4.27:1 gears. It is a potent and beautiful package. Following this restoration, CSX 2433 was shown at the 2012 Amelia Island Concours, where it was awarded Second in Class. In 2012, it was raced at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca. The current owner has successfully campaigned it at the Goodwood Revival wearing its magnificent Le Mans hardtop, which is included in this sale. This wonderful Cobra is truly one of the best in existence. It presents its new owner the opportunity to compete on the world’s most prestigious show fields and in the most exclusive vintage racing events.
