Certainly some of you have some projects in flight.  We all know about Duane's projects, Novaron's, Danny's and Centerline's coupes, etc., who else is building a deuce, or making changes to their deuce?  Ya know a hot rod's never finished....

:) After I posted my glovebox project a few months back to get more storage, I asked some of you how you liked the tray you had under your dashes. It looked like a GOOD idea.. the only problem with  them for me is I have no top and when parked it would be easy for some sticky fingers to help themselves to my goodies. SO I decided to make mine with a door. !. When door is closed.  2. When opened  3. Panel behind the door that holds a USB outlet and 12v outlet.

Got a latch from a Ford  (be sure and get the striker plate  and key too).  1.  And made an mount for it.   2. This is the box that is under the dash  3. Also added a cubbyhole under the box to hold my iphone and bluetooth speaker.  Makes the space in the roadster much better!

Finally got back to working on the car, after the holidays, honey do's and family obligations. Wife and I removed fenders, grill shell and the rest of the interior. Moved the car to a friends body shop for paint, which is something way beyond our capabilities. Hopefully the car isn't in body shop jail! We will be doing a few more things before we reassemble. But after looking at it with the fenders off I am thinking high boy........... Naaaaa.

Painting the car back yellow, not doing a body off, just getting her back to all one color. You know over the years how you spot paint and the colors just never really match.

I've started work on my 32 Roadster. Only thing I'm sure of is it will have a Duvall windshield, it will be a highboy and I'll be running 48 Chevy tail light and an F100 steering box. Deciding on running a stock gas tank, or fabricating a roll pan, or running one of Walden's curved rear spreader bars tucked up close to the body. Thinking about different motors. 5 Spd tranny for sure, along with a nine inch rear. Have asset of Halibrands/ties all mounted and ready to go, but really liking the looks of the bias ply tires. All fun stuff to think about while I can continue on with the build.

Well you can't beat a deuce roadster. Sounds like a good plan.

Installing the 56 F100 box and 40 truck column. Not a fan of this wheel for the roadster ( too big and bulky looking). Think I'll start hunting for a 39 Banjo wheel.

Tom,
Going with your “ never done statement “
These are the Magnesium wheels that should be fitted to the Roadster soon, been waiting on them for some time now
Finally got some photos of the raw cast first articles.
What size are those Dean ? Very nice.
Thanks Beppie,
16 x 5 Front
18 x 7 Rears
Thanks Dean.
Can't wait till I see those on the car.
By the way.I'am getting good at taking the rear out of this thing.Nice of Billie to let me work on my car there.
Great to see such a response, your car is in good hands.

Put the car up on stands today to switch out the transmission.  Switching from the 350 Turbo to a 200R overdrive.....should be done before the long weekend is over.....as long as the wife lets me go out to play :)

Going to seal it off from the interior with a panel.I know a guy with a bones car & he keeps getting headaches & alittle under the weather.Fumes from the exhaust, gas tank etc.You ever wonder why a bones car has no side windows.

I have a Tank's gas tank ,similar to the one in the picture above that I had bought for my 5W. I ran the same set up in my last 5W with no problems. Ran a vent tube/hose out the rear. I'll make a petition that  attach to the rear x-brace to seal off the passenger compartment , but being a roadster with no top or side curtains, I don't think fumes will be a problem.

Mounted the Duvall windshield to the cowl Saturday.  Mainly to check for fit before I remove the lip off the top of the cowl ( below the stock windshield ) and cut the cowl vent (and surround) and fill that. Also plan on changing the cowl opening to look more like a 36 Rdstr (much like the Doane Spencer Deuce).  I have wanted one of these windshields for 40 years. Just love the way they look.

Baron, I too love the way the Duvall looks, BUT you will REALLY love the way it handles the wind ! No wind hitting you in the face... so SMOOTH and quiet. It was the BEST move I ever made with my roadster! You will just love it. It's worth all the extra work for sure!

Thanks. That is exactly what I was hoping for. I had put together a FFR Cobra  8 years ago, and with the windshield leaned back in that I found it  was so much better than driving my last Deuce Rdstr. Nice when form and function work in unison.

Installed windshield post and windshield, put dynaMat in the doors, installed taillights, frame horn covers , spreader bar and bumper brackets. Leaving everything loose to install running boards, and front fenders ( when we get them back from being flamed). Meanwhile did some rewiring with American auto wire kit. Sent gages back to classic instruments to have new bezels installed and faces cleaned. Received them back in one week they are beautiful (like new again). Installed the gages into the new engine turned dash panel.

Thanks. Very happy with the way everything is lining up. I don't have any webbing installed anywhere yet. Just everything bolted to the chassis, and it all lines up. I figure once the webbing is installed it should all raise up the same amount. I also don't have the webbing on the cowl and hood, and the hood is low right now, so that should take care of that. I remember spending many hours getting the body, hood and doors aligned on the last two Wescott roadster's I had. This has been a piece of cake compared to those. So far, so good.

Tom,
 Here's a setup with just 1 bar.
I have not finished the rear top mount yet . Determining the ride height so I can set the pinion angle and finish the mounts on the rear end housing. This is a picture kind of the same way as I am doing mine.
Nice.Kinda like a ladder bar set up.

Thanks.  I like it!

Do you have any pics of the rear ladder bars put together?  I'm looking for ideas as I plan on running '36 rear bones also.
Tom,

Another good idea, thanks.

Baron, I am following along on your build. Don't plan on doing another ground up myself. Really like what you are doing!
Thanks Dave. I wanted to build one more roadster for myself. This being the 6th Deuce I've put together for myself, I pretty much know what to do ( and what not to do) so I'm really enjoying this build.
Baron, Is that Ford F-1 truck steering?
F100. The steering shaft comes into the top of the box instead of the bottom as they do on the F1's and the stock Deuce steering box.

The B400 looks great. Love the Hemi. That 1st time on the first ride seems to make all the BS&T worth it. Are those original Western Wheels?

??? Its a bit cryptic, but theres a secret message in this post. You guys should be able to figure it out without resorting to your Dick Tracy decoder rings. My main working space (temporarily) is where my wife parks her Rav4 at night, so after I beat on it, I have to hang the body on the wall every night... ::) :o scored rockers and valves at Monroe on the weekend, will order valve springs, retainers, pushrods, rings and bearings from Summit, and I am ready to start hammering the motor together. I figure my wife wont want to ride in this one... ;D

Finally got the tub assembled and in to the upholstery shop. Won't be out till the middle of July, which means it wont be ready for the LARS, first one I have missed in years! I say I have missed because we are moving to Prescott Valley Arizona that same weekend. Will post a pic. when the car is finished.

Thanks Beppie. The wife and I are both retired now and thought we would try a new life style. That pic. of the tub was taken a few years ago at the LARS.
