Here's a picture of my car when it was owned and raced by Red Stanley from GA.  Race was in 1959 at Hixson Drag strip in TN.  Red usually won.  I'll add a smaller pic of the same shot that shows he was racing a 40 Ford.
When I put tags on the car and drove it to breakfast in December, 2012; it was the first time the car had been legally tagged and driven in 55 years.  It spent 43 years without an engine or trans in a chicken coop.

It's exactly the way you see it in the garage.  We loaded it back in 2001, and it has sat in the warehouse nice and warm since.  I've collected all of the parts to bring it to the 57 Grand National Roadster Show version.  Working on the wheels for the 59 version, and I've got to try and collect some time.

This 32 belonged to Harper Burns in the 50's.  As soon as I can find someone that's under 14 years old, I'll have them transfre the pictures I have, so you can see the inside of the car, as well as earlier photos.  Thanks a million for this.  I forward the link to Harper tonight and hope that he enjoys the trip down memory lane!  Bob

He only has about 6 or 8 pics from that day, but this was the only Deuce.  Randy

Back when I first discovered the drags I was a Gasser and Altered fan, and an early favorite for me was the Ratican, Jackson & Sterns Fiat AA/A that ran with Reath Automotive sponsorship. The lettering on the B/G 3 window has the definite look of the Reath font and given the Caddo Mills location I'd put my money on the car being Don Hardy's.
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.

No, I was born in 1967...so that was a little before my time.    :)

The pics I posted are stills from a film, and here's some of the back ground that lead to the connection that it was indeed the car I own.

I bought the 32 Fordor from Willard Kendig's daughter in 2007, as he was in a rest home and the family had begun to sell off some of his cars to pay medical expenses. Willie was a local legend of sorts, inventor of the Kendig carburetor, which later became the Predator. Here's a little history on Mr Kendig...

http://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/...ig-passes-away

When I got the car, it had slicks on the back, and there were holes torched in the front fenders for headers, so we figured it had been raced. It was last licenced in the early 60's at it still had yellow CA plates...which were replaced by black in 63.

Fast forward to December 2010. My dad got a copy of a DVD that a friend of his put together of local (California Central Valley) drag racing from the 50's through the 70's. It is several hours of footage. That Christmas, my brothers and I sat down to watch it at my dad's place. We were watching and talking about all of the neat cars...then we see a 32 Fordor make a pass. We stopped it and watched it over and over...knowing that 1959 at Famoso was the right time and place for my car to have ran. We could see the fender exit headers, the goofy angled up split wishbones and the bobbed rear frame, so we were pretty sure it was my car.

I took the disc home and watched it frame by frame and snapped the images I posted above. I printed several of the pics and my dad sent them to an old hot rodder that knew Willard. The friend showed the pictures to one of the Boudakian brothers who positively ID's the car as their old race car that had been sold to Willard around 1960. They said that they had run a Desoto hemi with 6-2's. They also said that the car had got rear ended in Fresno sometime before they sold it, thus the bobbed rear frame horns and rear body panel damage. Boudakains went on to race numerous cars after the Fordor, including a Desoto powered Fiat up to BBC Fuel Altered.

Ironically, I had seen the footage 10 years prior, but we were focused on the next car to make a pass, as we believe it to be a friends 41 Merc coupe. I didn't own a 32 Fordor at the time, so I paid no attention to it.

In the first photo I'd say it was early '60's judging from the Moon hydraulic throttle and the size of the slicks. It went through a few more changes later on, somebody cut the wheel house panels and eliminated the door handles, but that cut door was the scary part for me. That modification seems like it would be hard to bring back, but then again there are plenty of metal wizards out there with skills greater than mine. I wonder if it is back on the street as somebody's hot rod?

The number 11 three window belonged to Don Montgomery, historian and author of the early days of hot rodding. Back in the '50's coupes running fenders and nitro were classed as Fuel Coupes and roadsters on the other hand running fenderless on nitro were in Hot Roadster class. As an example even Guasco's Pure Hell was originally an A/HR car.
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.

Anybody want to venture a guess as to which car has the most unusual body modification in this, Davy's last series of photos?

You've got it Mick. Seems like that body had another life later on, or maybe another just had the same section job. I've seen one for the street in an old R&C or maybe a very old PHR?

Back then the FAA wasn't saying "...We're here...you're not!..."  We did an EIR and bought all of the computer equipment and portable "christmas tree",  then got the bum's rush.  But we are patient.
