These used to be very popular, but weren't seen for quite some time  Lately, ALL deuces are popular, and I'm starting to see them at shows again.

Did your friend steel his Aussie tub out or leave the wood. It is a very nice Tub. I have a friend who has two original Tubs, one 33 and a 34. Still untouched. Good Rodder Fodder.

Graeme, Bob replaced all the wood with steel. He's an old racecar builder/fabricator/welder. It is ROCK solid!

It was a good move Duane. A few years ago I built a 34 Aussie Roadster and replaced all the wood, installed an American all steel floor, lowered the sills like the American model and it was a huge job so can appreciate anyone who undertakes that task.

My tub. Yes, a tudor and steel!  Done using roadster / phaeton cowl and doors ( doors extended 6") , lower quarters from a tudor, and all the right dimensions.

Apart from the wood in the Aussie bodies another difference is that Aussie Tubs dont have the seams down the rear section whereas the American bodies have two seams.

I've been keeping this lowkey until money changed hands.
I got this 32 tub body out of a gully in 1976.A wrecking yard that closed in 1965 pushed all the cars into the gully.
The body was complete but cut in 2 thru the rockers in front of the center pillar.
As a 16 year old living in country Australia it was beyond my means to build it at the time.
My friend I sold it to,put it on a chassis, steeled the body out and painted it black and put it in the corner of his garage where it sat for 39 years.most people never knew the car was there.
Today,I closed the deal and it will be in the US and in my garage. So my first 32 will also be my last 32.
It will be a black, flathead powered fully fendered car
Enjoy the photos

I would like to know what kind of wood they used.In the early 70s I stored a 1934 tub that was shipped from aus. and couldn't even cut the pallet it was shipped on with a skill saw.The body was very heavy.

No disrespect implied or intended but Tom had some cool cars and though I never cared for the big louvers and grille insert treatment on the yellow Phaeton there is one thing in particular I recall about it. He had it at the St. Paul SR Nats and propping open the hood so everyone could see the engine was a tin foil covered 2 x 4. Not exactly what you expected to see on a car of that caliber.😳
RIP Tom, I wish I could have accomplished 20% of what he did in his lifetime.

My pleasure Dave, I have quite the archive in my basement and with your approximate time frame it was an easy find. I try and scan and post from time to time but I need to get more serious about that, there is much to show, both to the younger guys here and as a refresher for us older guys.
