I was wonding why so many other sites put down Street Rods. When there the ones that kept this hobby alive. If you think about it how many traditional cars are really driven that far.Me being on the west coast I see alot of Hot Rod's/Street Rods from the east coast out here at the big shows.Ya you might see a few traditional cars but there from one state over & that's about it.

Well said Beppie,
I tried to build our roadster for trouble free miles. Should be able to run along at 70+ mph with no issues.

I consider our '38 Chev a street rod..........and it has been from cruising Daytona Beach, to parking on Santa Monica pier. Just a low buck cruiser with a GM front clip and a warmed over 305........nothing fancy, stock body with a few creature comforts...........to me that fits the street rod category. And you are right, these are the cars that keep the hobby alive. Very affordable and lots of fun, that is what the average person can put together or buy without killing the family budget..........

My fleet is neither considered a street rod and definitely not a traditional hot rod but I do drive the snot outta them and have a blast doing it. As my Grandson calls all of them Hot Rods! I like his description!  Joe

Being a newbie to "Hot Rod Craft", I'm just finding my way around.  While I do participate on that "traditional hot rod" message board, a lot of the attitude there is not what I am about.

I think that where the hobby took a wrong turn was when it went from driving old hot rods to building show cars and trailering them to events.  While I respect the workmanship, I'd much rather spend time looking at a car that knows what it means to smash bugs and has some road rash.

Yup, M/T Raders.  The chrome on them has gotten pretty bad on the rims.  They were always mismatched, too.  3 ribs on one side and single rib on the other.

The old lacquer is popping off the hood, and the 327 is really needing rebuilt, but he keeps driving it, and is much happier after we redid the front floorboard and put a 350turbo in it last winter.

Hey Beppie, do you remember where these photos were taken?  Almost looks like the EARLY Roarin' 30's event over at the old Fairgrounds in St Charles, MO.  The red T Touring was Wayne Godbey's.
