This picture did hang in my parent's house for many years.  As a kid he would take me on jobs with him and he'd block out all the letters and let me fill them in.

Very cool Roger.They called them sign painters ,but they were artist deep down.Thanks for sharing that.

Here's a few old drag strip signs (they don't appear to be re-pops) from the Schley Brothers Museum. 
The OCIR sign is the real deal.  Ran into the Steve McQueen poster and had to throw it in, too... 8)
