A car that I later saw back on the street, let left a lasting impression on a 10 yr. old boy, me. In this picture it is seeing action at Mission Raceway, here in BC. Perkin Bros are still a contender in drag racing, with many national records to their name in Comp. Eliminator. Members of the BCCCA, Canada's oldest car club and owners of Mission Raceway Park.

"Kokomotion", just before and after it crashed at the old Mission Raceway.

"Kokomotion", just before and after it crashed at the old Mission Raceway.
Don probably knows this story, its local legend. Bob Kokotalo ALMOST walked away from this crash. After the car stopped, he got out and was a-ok. So the Mission ambulance guys arrive on the scene in the infamous Mission raceway cornbinder ambulance, and INSIST that Bob has to go to hospital. Bob tells them he is fine except for a few bumps and bruises, and has zero need to go to the hospital, but they insist he "might have a concussion", cant be too careful, right? So they put Bob on the stretcher and load him into the back of the ambulance, and take off, siren screaming. Thing is, they didn't close the back doors properly, and Bob gets launched out the back doors of the ambulance, stretcher and all!  :o
I actually asked Bob about this at the last GVMPS hall of fame induction ceremony, and he confirmed the story is 100% true.   ;D he also thought it was funny as hell!
