Good point,  with that exhaust at the top of the side panel?

Hmmm.  I first thought of the Cadillac flathead v8 but that engine only has 3 exhaust ports.  Wayne head GMC 6 - 6 ports.

I was thinking one of those set ups that has the exhaust ports and intake ports switched......

I was thinking Buick Fireball straight eight, the port layout would lend itself to Y shaped exhaust for each pair of cylinders. The intake ports are between two exhaust ports and I think one intake manifold runner feeds a port that is split to feed two cylinders.
I know the basement floor is down there because it's holding everything up. I just can't see it anymore.
